Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) Positions

The GRA positions may be available to qualified Master's degree or Doctoral degree pursuing graduate students in mechanical engineering (or other disciplines including material science, physics, chemistry, biology, or chemical engineering etc.) who have strong background and interest in thermal sciences/engineering, and/or materials processes/characterization and biomedical.

Research Area:

  • Two-phase heat transfer (boiling, evaporation and condensation) in porous media

  • Battery thermal management and cell modeling

  • Nanotechnologies (nanofluids, nano-coating)

  • Hydrogen compression/storage/transportation technologies

  • Biotechnologies (biofuel, biomedical)

To qualify for the Research Assistantships, the applicants, in general, have the following backgrounds and/or requirements:

  • "Creative" scientific mind and "passionate" research interests in the general areas of "thermal sciences/engineering" or "energy conversion/storage".

  • Some industrial or laboratory experiences

  • GPA: 3.5/4.0 and GRE Scores > top 5%
