About the
members of The Wile E. Works
ME 452 is the Mechanical Engineering senior design Capstone course. This semester, Prof. Eric Wang, in an effort to make the course more "real world", found a sponsor willing to provide students with actual exposure to the manufacturing environment. Our sponsor is Kooka Components of Carson City, makers of high quality Mountain Bike components. Many thanks to Greg Burns and all the folks at Kooka.
The project this semester is to design and prototype a bicycle mulit-tool. The entire class, divided into six teams, will be working on the project simultaneously, creating an atmosphere of "friendly" competition. Progress reports will be posted continuously over the semester on the teams various web pages. So, check back often to see the project take shape. Of course, if you really want to know what's hot with the project you need only check back here at The Wile E. Works.

As the class, and therefore the project, comes to a close, the members of The Wile E. Works are proud to present their final design the, Kantilever-17.

The following are the specifications for the Kantilever-17
Concept Drawings:

A prototype of the Kantilever-17 was produced and tested. Strength testing and failure analysis have shown the Kantilever strong and reliable.

Finally, we reviewed the goals fo the design:
Having done so we are confident that the Kantilever-17 meets or exceeds the goals of the design and the class.
For our final reflection on the class and
the project we would just like to thank Prof. Wang for making the class interesting and
informative. We would also like to, once again, thank Greg Burns and Kooka Components for
all the help and support.

Special Thanks to Our Project Sponsor Kooka Components
