Design Review Presentation and Report
Oral Presentation (Oct. 22, 2:30 pm)
- The Oral Design Review is worth up to 600 project lab points.
- Each presentation is limited to 8 minutes. NO ADDITIONAL TIME WILL BE
PERMITTED.
- The presentation format MUST follow the format given in Chapter 3 of
Goldberg (you can also view the MECH 150 lecutre by Dr. Wang on presentations and chapter 10 in Dally)

- The presentations will be evaluated using the following criteria:
Format and Content (500 pts.)
1. Elements of the talk
2. Presentation
Appearance (dress) (30)
Quality of visual aids (Diagrams, graphs and drawings) (55)
Speakers voice, authority (30)
Arrangement (Order) of presentation (55)
Time management (how long is the presentation) (30)
Overall Quality (Presentation, project conduct, and kit workmanship) (100 pts.)
- All team members must be present and on stage. Proper attire for a
technical presentation is required of all team members.
- All team members receive the same grade (points). It is NOT required to
have each team member participate in the presentation, although it is a good idea to
somehow indicate the overall contribution of each team member to the project.
- A copy of your presentation must be emailed to Dr.
Wang by 6:00PM on Oct. 22nd.
Written Report (Analysis)
Written design review is worth up to 600 project lab
points.
- Evaluation criteria:
Concept description, features, and principles of operation (100)
Design details including drawings, parts list, and estimated project costs (100)
Analysis and preliminary testing (how did you size the various components, what is your predicted flow
rate and efficiency) (100)
Project management (Schedule, overall budget tracking, operational issues) (100)
Overall effectiveness (including grammar, spelling, graphics, etc.) (200)
- The report is to be typed on standard 8.5" x 11" paper, single
spaced, 12 pt. type, 1" margins 3 pages maximum including all figures.
- The report should be stapled in the upper left hand corner.
- Title, group #, student names (group leader I.D., principal writer I.D.),
and date
- Graphics must be in digital format
- Submit one hard copy and EMAIL to Dr. Wang with
document (MS Word) as an attachment.
- Design Concepts are due in the Mechanical Engineering Office, PE 200 at
2:30
p.m., October 22nd. You should insure that the office personnel date-stamp
and time-receipt your report. Reports that are late will not be accepted.
